Cookie Policy

What are cookies?

A cookie is a small text file that a website stores on your device – computer or mobile – when you visit the site.

Cookies can be set by the site you are visiting – known as first party cookies – or by external sites and services that are used on the site you are visiting – third party cookies.

Cookies also come in two varieties dependant on how long they are stored on your device. Session cookies are only kept while your browser session is ongoing, they are deleted when you quit your browser. Persistent cookies stay on your machine as long as they are set to last – unless you delete them. These cookies all have differing life spans, from a day to years.

How We Use Cookies

As the little warning popup down the bottom states this site – toxic-web.co.uk – does not set any cookies unless initiated by the user. Such as clicking the “with cookie” button on that popup. This sets a first party cookie on your device, telling us you understand and to not show you the popup again on future visits – the cookie will last for 1 year. It will also put some ads on the site from Google that will put cookies on your device if your device settings allows.

If you click the “without cookie” the popup will close and stay closed during this visit to the site but appear again the next time you visit the site – it doesn’t set any cookie. Otherwise it’ll just sit there, getting in the way. Because we’ve all got to have one. If you don’t want to see it again there are browser extensions out there that block them.

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year. Again if you don’t click on the option then no cookie will be set.

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website. We’ve done our best to make sure that these embeds don’t set any cookies when the page on this site loads in your device but once you click play chances are they will have to or they won’t play.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

You can stop these cookies through your browser, which should have the ability to block all types of cookies and trackers. Most browsers also have the ability to clean such data stored on your device, or again there are numerous browser extensions you can use to control what is put on and kept on your device.

Advertisers

If we use an outside ad companies to display ads on our site. These ads may contain cookies. Cookies received with banner ads are collected by our ad companies. We do not have access to this information. All ad companies we deal with are well known firms with strict privacy policy.

Third party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s previous visits to your website or other websites.
