Sad news that Andre Previn has died aged 89.
Of all his work, from four Oscars, to being musical director and conductor of a number of major orchestras for most Britons of a certain age Andre Previn is Andrew Preview the straight man for Morecambe and Wise in one of the greatest comedy sketches of all time.
And Andre Previn played his part to perfection. Look at the band – “I’ve seen better bands on a cigar” – they’re creased up with Previn plays it straight face throughout and doing so having little rehearsal.
His comedy timing and facial expressions were just utterly perfect.
