...series? England have convincingly won the first test match of their last two series only to roll over and capitulate, after their 169 run victory in the Ashes opener can they stop the Aussies at Lord's?
...New Zealand. The recent two Test match “series” between England and New Zealand finished all-square with both sides getting what they deserved but the punters missing out on what should have been a deciding third game.
...pitch. England were handed the ideal Headingley pitch for them to wrap up the two match series against Sri Lanka, it may have come down to the last over again but they blew it.
...respect. Throughout the whole of this last Ashes test match the pundits told us Onions should have been picked instead of Tim Bresnan. What would have happened if they got their wish.
...in Manchester, what are the chances? England sit here on Tuesday morning still holding the Ashes but they could quite easily be sitting there looking down the wrong end of a 2-1 deficit to the worst Aussie side since crying Kim's.
...England. Tykes doing not bad in their return to the County Championship top flight, while their players are away helping England get back on the winning track.
...gone in tests. England go into today's one day international against South Africa trying to hang onto their top place in the rankings for the 50 over game but the one that really matters is gone.
...with style. England really put on the style to be whitewashed by Pakistan in the recent three match test series in the UAE.
...to a new level. Just when they were thinking the last test match was just a blip they go and surpass it. I wonder if they'll learn from this or just take the positives.
...this series thumping. Has there ever been a team to come to these shores and be on the end of such a shellacking in a test match series?
...disguise? England yet again stuff India, this time by an innings and plenty, to take over from the visitors as the number one ranked team in the world.
...again? If you didn't know the test rankings but were told one of these was number one and then watched the first two tests of this series you wouldn't pick India, would you even have them in the top 5?
...right up until they got stuffed. With a full house at Lord's for the final day of the opening Test of the series against India it got a bit screechy until the Indians were put out of their misery.
...with a damp meh. Three damp squid test series against Sri Lanka finished appropriately with rain stopping play as England yet again struggled to bowl the visitors out to win the final test.
...not to lose. Andrew Strauss needed a carrot to dangle in front of the Sri Lankan batsmen to get a result at Lords' but chose to bat on and on and on, seemingly scared his bowlers would give it up in extras.
