...thank god. Some days back Steven Gerrard made Roy Hodgson a very sad man as he retired from England duty after a World Cup that summed up the player's international career of failure.
...the mark then. Highlight of England's tournament. Figured they'd lose by one goal to Italy, one or two to Uruguay and draw with Costa Rica before flying home before the postcards and Roy's boys didn't disappoin
...term. The deep rooted problems with the England national football team can't be fixed overnight but there a number of small things that can be done straight away to make things somewhat better in the near future.
...takes off from Brazil. Since England's exit from the World Cup after two straight defeats Roy Hodgson has done nothing to justify the F.A. not handing him his P45.
...our misery. After Italy's lacklustre defeat to Costa Rica, England's miserable World Cup is over before the postcards have been bought never mind sent home.
...Cup. After England's second straight 2-1 defeat in the first two group matches does anyone now truly believe England will get out of the first round? Does anyone believe in Roy?
...it. Italy did what Italy do, that is just enough to win, in beating England 2-1 in their opening World Cup group game but the pundits just turn a blind eye.
...final warm up game. England's final warm up match before they headed to Brazil was an amalgamation of the previous two outings the bad from the first and good from the second in a game of three halves.
...England. Apparently the international friendly between England and Peru at Wembley was shown live on TV in Brazil. I hope they had a suitably good laugh.
...down. The media haven't half got their knickers in a knot about Roy Hodgson picking some youngsters in his World Cup squad, when they should be focusing on the old failures instead.
...early. More to the point it should put us England fans out of our misery and we can get on and enjoy the competition without the bloated failures clogging up the rest of the World Cup.
...bound. Be careful what you wish for. This could get embarrassing in the jungle. As England beat Poland to go to the World Cup and mask what has gone before and optimism raises it's ugly head again.
...England. As they finally beat some country that isn't called Moldova or San Marino in their World Cup qualifying group. Hang your heads in shame Montenegro.
...was a fitting game. 'Arry could have managed either of these teams in a parallel universe. He could have quite easily overseen a game as utterly devoid of skill and talent as was put on by and England side as they failed yet again to win against a team that's not San Marino or Moldova.
...watching that game with a stinking cold. Well, hell that just ramped up the misery. England again put at least 4 past Moldova which should tell that country it's time to pack it in.
