]]> Guitarist Rod Price, founding member of the blues boogie band Foghat, died Tuesday (March 22nd) after falling down a stairway at his home, a family friend said. He was 57.

Born in London, England, Price’s signature playing earned him the title “the magician of slide,” and propelled Foghat to three platinum and eight gold records during the band’s quarter-century career, including 1975′s Fool for the City, which featured the classic-rock radio staple “Slow Ride”.

Price had played with Champion Jack Dupree, Eddie Kirkland, Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, Willie Dixon and Honey Boy Edwards.
