...disgrace. In the first half of Spurs' away game at Aston Villa they were too busy amassing corners and throw ins in the second they recklessly abandoned the goal for the record number of corners for actual goals.
...City. Don't know what's worse what Stoke call football or the joy they take in killing the game. Points for points sake, no enjoyment, glory in destruction, you wonder what Danny Blanchflower would have made of it all.
...injury time. Easy answer for Spurs to hold out during the last 10 to 15 minutes of games with a lead looks like being to play teams with little attacking intention - like Swansea. Fine by me.
...with a win. AVB needs to do something about Spurs' 80 minute men. He also needs to get one of his 'keepers and one of his central defenders to spend some time together so they can understand each other in the future.
...well. This Europa League group stage has been a bit touch and go over the six games for Spurs, right through to 15 minutes from the end of the final game at home to Panathinaikos last night.
...at this rate. Three wins in a week, 9 points from 9, eight goals for just two against. Surely 'Arry would have done better than this. It can't carry on, we shouldn't allow it to carry on.
...place? Yes it was only the vile scum of West Ham but with the likes of Lloris, Dawson and Dempsey playing and playing well it was probably the best home game of the season so far.
...against AVB. They deplete him of a string of first teamers for the North London Derby and then conspire to rid him of Adebayor a quarter of an hour into the game. He still did better than 'Arry despite the same scoreline.
...was the killer. From the moment Spurs took the lead, against Man City, it felt like it would be a 70 minute hanging on job and this being Spurs, not a successful one.
...the fans what they can and cannot say? It seems to work, gives the crowd a lift which in turn gives the team a lift for the home game against Maribor in the Europa League.
…and those at the Lane are helping them out. There’s plenty to blame for Spurs’ latest poor performance at home and yes you can say the manager played his part but those on and off the pitch contributed more… or should that be less. Those in all lilywhite – now there’s a main problem, those […]
...will someone please tell Spurs. Away to Southampton, Spurs were at it again. A one half performance leading to hanging on at the end and being grateful to come away with the victory and three points.
…halves. Optimism in the face of playing the league leaders lasted as long as we though Dembele and Bale’s names would be on the team sheet. Once they were omitted for separate reasons – for Bale I’m reminded of the beginning of David Lee Roth’s “Yankee Rose” video (right) in the grocery shop where the […]
...they were bitching about him not doing. With Spurs on a winning run, one of their best starts to a Premier League season, the Old Trafford hoodoo done and dusted and the players themselves talking about how happy they are the media are scrambling for something to have a go at Andre Villas-Boas with.
...negatives. Spurs may have played poorly, AVB may have made the wrong decisions but things were corrected and three points were won.
