...week. Another dispiriting result looked to be following another dispiriting display by Spurs until a bit of luck here and there saw them overcome Hull 2-1.
...visit White Hart Lane. Two teams rocked up to play Spurs this week both needing a lift in fortunes Newcastle left with a reinvigorated season Brighton left being out of the League Cup.
...window. It wasn't who came in but rather who didn't, who left and who stayed that made this transfer window somewhat lacklustre.
...Hullish sort of places. After seeing off AEL Limassol in the qualifying match with ease Spurs go into a Europa League group with no real glamour ties and hopefully no real banana skins.
...England. Apparently the international friendly between England and Peru at Wembley was shown live on TV in Brazil. I hope they had a suitably good laugh.
...career. Losing 3-1 to the smirking dim one called Sherwood must rank as the worst thing on the Fulham manager's long and distinguished CV as both player and coach.
...coming. There's no better team to be three goals down to than West Brom, as the Baggies dug Timmy out of yet another grave by throwing away a three goal lead to draw three all.
...desire to win. Timmy said that teams will fear playing Spurs and the draw with Benfica that knocked them out of the Europa League showed the team are fully behind him, on a 12 minute display.
...analysing that game on TV. In another dimwitted, insipid performance losing 3-1 at home to Benfica in the last 16 of the Europa League, Spurs put in a Jenasesque performance.
...sacked. Rubbish like, struggling at home to beat relegation fodder Cardiff City one nil, wasn't that the reason AVB had to go, to be replaced by Mr Entertainment Tim Sherwood.
...baffling good management. Timmy's had a lucky run of fixtures since back stabbing his way into the job, this certainly didn't change with an 4-0 away thrashing of Newcastle. But Timmy changed things and for the better.
...must envy him. Tim Sherwood's spawny travels through football management continue, in this latest episode his side are again atrocious but again pick up three points against Everton.
...gawd 'elp us. So it looks like Daniel Levy's master plan to sack the manager without a replacement is working a treat. As Tim Sherwood oversees a 2-1 loss to West Ham in the league cup.
...if that's the response. And even though the two all draw with Man Utd. was disappointing the manner in which Spurs went about the game was rather encouraging but only if they keep it up.
...there. Man City went one up after 14 seconds and Spurs made it easy for them in the rest of the 90 minutes as they racked up another five goals.
