If I don’t get some shelter

Rolling Stones Gimme Shelter ~ Isolated tracks || Gimme Shelter - 1969 Ed Sullivan || Merry Clayton - Gimme Shelter

Oh yeah, I’m gonna fade away.

The Rolling Stones’ “Gimme Shelter” one of my favourite, if not my number one fav, tracks of all time. It’s got the lot, from the inclusion of Merry Clayton’s cracking vocals to some great guitar work from Keef, especially that little lick at the end of the intro.

Well some bright spark on YouTube has isolated the various parts from the song and stuck ’em up. One of those don’t know how long they’ll last up there but worthwhile posting about it.

The vocals from Mick Jagger and Merry Clayton…

Keith Richard’s guitar, rhythms, riffs and licks, lead…

Keef again with some rhythm and licks, along with Nicky Hopkins on piano and Mick Jagger blowing the harmonica…

Never the flashiest of bass player, Bill Wyman, was no Entwistle, but you can see the Vox teardrop almost vertical doing just what had to be done…

…it’s just a shot away.
