Spurs top of the Premier League August 20th 2009

from here…

After Spurs thrashed the hopeless Hull 5-1 at the KC Stadium, it was enough to go top of the Premier League on goal difference…

After beating Liverpool on the opening weekend a midweek game away to Hull, no matter how bad Phil Brown’s lot have been in 2009, this had banana skin written all over it. This is Spurs after all, but…

Great hat-trick by Defoe, he’s now finding the back of the net with these great chances banged in rather than hitting the keeper or the woodwork. Him and Keane have shown they can work together, though I still don’t think the Irishman should be captain because it means he is guaranteed his starting spot. But then if he plays like that he deserves that spot.

The midfield four look like a unit, Huddlestone needs this run in the team, it’s what will give him the confidence to run games. If Hudd keeps playing like this and ‘Arry brings Jenas straight back into the starting XI then there’s something seriously wrong at the club and it’ll knock Huddlestone back. Hudd needs to be allowed to build on this partnership with Palacios and if the latter can add goals to everything else he does for the team.

Just need these horrible rumours of Brown and James catching ‘Arry’s eye, the former has all the ball control of a kilt the latter is a clown waiting for his opportunity to get in on the act and give away winning positions.

Yeah it was Hull but it was still triffic, for 2 points, 8 games to 6 points, 2 games…

…Spammers up next and they’d love to do us and put a dampener on this start.
