There is no dark side of the Moon really

Effectology, Vol. 2: Dark Side of the Moon

as a matter of fact it’s all dark.

A couple of months ago I posted about Bill Ruppert producing none guitar sounds from well a guitar plus a few well chosen Electro-Harmonix pedals.

It was the first part in his “Effectology” series, where he got the sound of a blues harmonica along with the opening synth of The Who’s classic “Won’t Get Fooled Again” – check out the post. Well Bill mailed me a couple of days back about the new addition to the series, vol. 5, which I’ll leave to later because I’ve still got 2, 3 and 4 to go.

So here’s volume 2 – should be done with some sort of Open university accent – Pink Floyd’s “On The Run” from their seminal “Dark Side Of The Moon” album.

For this Bill used a bog standard guitar plus the following EHX effects : Micro Synthesizer, Stereo Memory Man with Hazarai, Frequency Analyzer, Big Muff Pi, Stereo Pulsar). With these settings, to create the following…

…top stuff.

Can’t say I can recreate the sounds, only got the one EHX unit, my latest pedal, that I’m waiting to be delivered, is a Catalinbread: The V8 Fuzz Tone Engine.

I’ll get round to posting up volume 3 soon.
