Not even Stevie Nicks

could prevent me catching Calexico at the ABC in Glasgow the other night.

A top show put on by a top band, Joey Burns, John Convertino and the rest of the guys put on a great gig. With of course a smattering of new stuff mixed in with their classics and live staples – Alone Again Or, Crystal Frontier, Ballad Of Cable Hogue, Güero Canelo, Across The Wire etc. I never can remember full set lists from gigs, will have to wait until it’s posted on Case De Calexico.

Still 3 more dates in the UK to catch them, Liverpool Academy tonight (Nov 3rd), Sheffield Octagon Nov 4th & Camden Roundhouse, London Nov 5th.

Support band Beruit were not bad and I could almost hear the screams from Michael Palin’s victims when they ran through “Brazil”.

Double dose of Rauhouse next week as he’s also opening up – with Kelly Hogan – for the Neko Case tour as well as doing is regular stint in her band, after Visqueen dropped out.
